Celebrating 15 Years of Impact: See Her Thrive Celebration

June 9, 2025

On May 16th, 2025, Nomi Network hosted the See Her Thrive Celebration—a milestone event honoring 15 years of fighting human trafficking and celebrating the thousands of women and girls whose lives have been transformed through our programs.

Held in honor of our anniversary, this morning celebration brought together longtime supporters, partners, and new allies to reflect on our journey, recognize powerful changemakers, and share our bold vision for the future.

Reflecting on the Journey—and Looking Ahead

Nomi Network’s Co-Founder and President, Diana Mao, joined journalist Del Irani in a powerful conversation reflecting on the evolution of Nomi Network’s mission to end human trafficking. From humble beginnings to becoming a global nonprofit empowering women and girls across India, Cambodia, and the U.S., Diana shared insights into our program’s exponential growth, our response to current global trafficking challenges, and where we’re headed next.

“I believe that income is a mechanism to prevent trafficking, and it reduces the likelihood of being trafficked when someone is stable financially and has their basic needs met. The more intangible, qualitative aspect, I would say, is that women and girls, like in these communities, are training each other; they’re educating each other about their rights as humans.” ~Diana Mao Kelly

Honoring Changemakers Leading the Way

We recognized individuals whose leadership has accelerated our mission and inspired transformation. This year’s honorees represent diverse sectors—philanthropy, media, and industry—but share a common purpose: creating a world free from exploitation.

Valerie Skinner – Abolitionist Award

Valerie Skinner, Board Chair of the Holloway Foundation, was recognized for her pivotal role in launching Nomi Network’s Dallas Program, which serves survivors and vulnerable women. Her unique philanthropic approach—centered on humility, community, and action—has laid the foundation for meaningful impact in the U.S.

“The most powerful thing in the world is an idea whose time has come—and the idea of abolishing human trafficking is that idea. Because trauma doesn’t end with her—it rewires generations. But so does healing. I want to be able to tell my grandchildren that I did my part. That I stood for a world where everyone is free to live with dignity, wellness, and purpose. And I know that this bold idea—this urgent mission—requires all of us.” ~Valerie Holloway Skinner

Christine Allison – Trailblazer Award

Christine Allison, president and Editor-in-Chief of D Magazine, has been a fearless advocate for women in media. Her visionary leadership and mentorship have shaped Dallas’s cultural landscape, empowering women’s voices and supporting the next generation of journalists.

“There is a devastating gap between encouraging women to speak up in boardrooms and rescuing those who have been silenced by unthinkable trauma. But both are acts of restoration. And Nomi Network reminds us that supporting human beings at any point in their lives isn’t charity—it’s our shared responsibility. The world doesn’t just need more female leaders; it needs more people who know their true worth and are willing to fight for the worth of others.” ~Christine Allison

Navolia Bryant – Corporate Catalyst Award

As Chief People Officer at Premier Trailer Leasing, Navolia Bryant has transformed how the trucking industry combats human trafficking. Her commitment to uplifting survivors and uniting local leaders has fueled the rapid growth of our Dallas program and inspired broader industry change.

“I believe that human trafficking has no place in our communities, no place in our boardrooms, and no place in our supply chains—and that means we have a responsibility to act. True change starts with the courage to care and the will to lead. It only takes one to transform a life—but it takes all of us to transform a system. This cause has expanded my heart, challenged my perspective, and ignited a deeper purpose in my professional calling. Because when business becomes a force for good, it becomes a force for freedom.” ~Navolia Bryant
