Economically empowering women and girls since 2009.

Our Why

"India is home to the world’s largest population of modern-day enslaved people, estimated to be over 11 million. As of 2023 in India, nearly one in four girls were married or in union before their 18th birthday."

"In Cambodia, poverty and a lack of education opportunities for both urban and rural families cause 55% of teenagers to drop out of school before the age of 17, heightening their vulnerability to trafficking."

India

Nomi Network works in four states and operates nineteen sites in Northeastern India, where women and girls are economically marginalized due to poverty, caste discrimination, gender inequality, and low capacity to resist economic shocks. Many of the communities we serve are adjacent to red-light districts, putting them at direct risk for commercial sexual exploitation (CSE).

Cambodia

Nomi Network operates in three sites in the Banteay Meanchey province of Cambodia, including Poipet, a border city where many Cambodians migrate from Thailand to seek work. Poipet is experiencing rapid growth and has a growing economy, making it appealing to those living below the poverty line. Those who cross the Thai border illegally are usually desperate for work, but lack skills or higher education, limiting their opportunities.
