Stand with Women in Cambodia: The Cambodia Resilience Fund is Helping Families Rebuild

August 13, 2025

When violence erupted along the Cambodia–Thailand border last week, entire villages were forced to evacuate overnight. Women in Nomi Network’s programs, many small business owners, and primary family caregivers, fled with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They left behind their homes, livestock, and the livelihoods they had worked tirelessly to build.

Markets are shuttered. Roads remain unsafe. With the border closed, families have lost local income and income from loved ones working in Thailand. Even as a fragile ceasefire holds, the path to recovery remains uncertain—especially for women and girls, who are often the most at risk in crisis situations.

Our Team’s Immediate Response

Even while displaced themselves, our Cambodia team has been working around the clock to contact every woman in our programs, assess urgent needs, and provide critical support. Some women are beginning to return home, but many are returning to devastating losses: empty savings accounts, destroyed businesses, and no clear way to earn an income.

We know that poverty fuels vulnerability to human trafficking. Without swift action, these women face greater risks. We launched the Cambodia Resilience Fund to provide emergency relief and long-term recovery support that helps women rebuild with dignity and independence.

Your Support Provides

  • Emergency shelter and transportation for displaced families
  • Food, clean water, and medical care for those who fled with nothing
  • Hygiene and sanitation supplies to prevent disease in crowded shelters
  • Clothing, blankets, and bedding for those returning to damaged homes
  • Tools and resources to restore women’s livelihoods when it’s safe

Our staff, many of whom faced the same evacuation, show extraordinary resilience. But they can’t do it alone.

How You Can Help

The Cambodia Resilience Fund is more than a disaster response—it’s a lifeline for women determined to rise above crisis. Your generosity can help prevent exploitation before it starts, keeping families safe while restoring economic stability.

Give to the Cambodia Resilience Fund and stand with women in Cambodia as they recover, rebuild, and create safer futures.

Together, we can ensure women rise even in the face of disaster.
