Nomi Network in Action

January 2025 Newsletter

January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month

Throughout January, we have shared articles and information to help you understand the complexity of human trafficking. Traffickers depend on women and girls to be vulnerable. Poverty, education gaps, lack of social capital, and systemic challenges contribute. The women in our programs write a better future story for themselves and their families. Many become leaders in their communities.

To end cycles of exploitation and trafficking, women need solutions for today and tomorrow. Visit our website to learn how we help women and girls build skills and confidence today for a future free of exploitation.

U.S. Programs Spotlight

Since 2021, Nomi Network has served justice-involved youth in Dallas. Last year, we started the community expansion to provide case management, trauma-informed life skills, education and and workforce exposure and training for youth in Dallas County. We continue to serve youth in the juvenile justice system at the Letot Residential Treatment Center.

We thank the Dallas Foundation for awarding the Community Grant $30,000 and investing in this expansion. The foundation’s investment will allow youth who are survivors of trafficking or at high risk of exploitation to write a better future story for themselves and reach their full potential.

International Programs Spotlight

Nomi Network will host KKR and the D.H. Ross Foundation for a Vision Trip to India at the end of January. These partners support our international Workforce Development and Adolescent Girls’ Empowerment Programs, and we’re grateful for their generous support.

Tours like these provide behind-the-scenes insights into how their investment impacts women, girls, and their communities. They’ll visit program sites in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, meet with staff, hear stories from women in our programs, observe training sessions, and connect with families to see AGEP’s impact.

Partner Spotlight

Our Build a Better Future Youth Workforce Development Program in Dallas recently relocated to new offices. The Malouf Foundation donated six computer tables for our Computer and Training Lab and two couches to help create a warm and inviting common area for the girls and staff. The Malouf Foundation’s purpose is to confront sexual exploitation. It fulfills its mission by providing free education on the signs of sexual exploitation and supporting survivors in their healing journeys.

In the future, we will collaborate on enhancing the Nomi Network “Know Me/Know My Future” training curriculum with their online safety tools. The Malouf Foundation provided what we needed just in time to serve youth in our new space. We look forward to learning from their leadership and expertise in the field.

Join the Network

When women and girls lack access to safe and dignified work, their options are capped, and vulnerabilities to trafficking soar. While 1 in 130 women and girls globally are living in modern slavery, a gift of just $15 can change a life.

We won’t stop until every woman and girl has freedom over their future, and invite you to join our monthly giving community, the Empower Her Circle. Start the new year with a continued commitment to supporting women and girls around the globe.
