The Nomi Network panel is the latest advocacy activity Liza Soberano has participated in.
Liza Soberano continues to involve herself in advocacy work, this time around participating in a panel organized by a non-profit advocating for women.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Liza posted multiple photos of her at a panel organized by the Nomi Network, a non-profit that envisions a world “where every woman and girl can now her full potential.”
In the caption to the post, Liza wrote that she “felt like standing at the edge of something greater than myself” as part of a panel where she talked about her advocacy for women’s and children’s rights. According to her, taking part in the event was an honor and a reminder that “our voices carry weight”.
This is just the latest advocacy event that Liza has attended in the past few months. Back in July, Liza posted multiple photos and a clip of her at The Nexus Summit. In the caption to the post, Liza wrote that the panel she took part in was about something “deeply personal” to her – “children’s rights, and the role film and television play in protecting and empowering the next generation.” She also wrote that she felt “more inspired than ever to use storytelling as a tool for justice, safety, and hope.”
The Nexus Summit describes itself as a “global community founded to bridge communities of wealth and social entrepreneurship.” It has more than 6,000 members from over 70 countries and brings together “investors, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and allies to catalyze new leadership and accelerate needed political, societal, indigenous, financial, environmental, and equal justice solutions.” The organization has held 40 summits since its founding in 2011.
Last year, Liza took part in the Milken Institute’s Asia Summit, which was held in Singapore. Some other personalities that attended included The Acolyte’s Manny Jacinto, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Simu Liu, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Liza has been balancing her attendance in advocacy summits with attending industry events, such as Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood party, which was also attended by celebrities like Tyla, Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard, The White Lotus’ Sam Nivola, and Olympian Simone Biles. In the caption to her post, Liza expressed her gratitude to Variety for the “fun night”.
She was also present at the Gold Gala, an event that honors AAPI personalities that have made changes in American culture in the past year. Some of the people in the post are producers Brandon and Kristin Saito, news anchor David Ono, Fil-Am artist Alyssa Rafael, Fil-Am comedian JR De Guzman, Super Junior member Choi Siwon, entrepreneur Rembrandt Flores, Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey, and Fil-Am musician H.E.R.
In the caption to the post, Liza wrote that the Gold Gala reminds her why community matters and that she was honored to be among the “bold, brilliant, and beautiful.”
Liza was also a jury member at the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival. Aside from expressing her gratitude at being part of the jury, Liza also described the festival “an amazing showcase of talented filmmakers” and shared that she was “inspired to continue working in an industry that encourages freedom of expression and challenges the way we think.”
