“Texas ranks second in the nation for human trafficking cases.”
“The Dallas-Fort Worth region accounts for 35% of the state’s commercial sexual exploitation cases even though they only have 26% of the state’s entire population.”
Nomi Network currently operates two programs in the United States, both of which are located in the state of Texas.
Why Dallas? As of 2022, Texas has the second-highest number of reported human trafficking cases in the
U.S. The Youth Workforce Development Program (YWDP) in Dallas serves youth aged 13 to 22 who are survivors or highly at risk of human trafficking and exploitation. We aim to empower them socially and economically to build their social capital by addressing barriers, building confidence and agency, and creating safety and support networks.
Why Houston? Houston consistently ranks in the top three cities in Texas for incidences of human
trafficking. In response, there are many initiatives, organizations, and programs to support survivors. However, no single organization focuses on preparing survivors for the workplace or preparing the workplace to support them.
The Adult Women’s Empowerment Program (A.W.E), provides career pathways for female survivors of human trafficking aged 18+. Nomi Network will help women secure safe and sustainable employment while working with corporations and businesses to be safe places to work for survivors. By focusing on workforce solutions for survivors, Nomi Network fills a critical service gap to reduce vulnerability for those with lived experience of trafficking.
