Ishrat Jahan

Ishrat is an accomplished leader with over 15 years of experience in nonprofit international program development and management. She lived in India for seven years, providing professional leadership, training, operational success, strategic solutions, and expertise in educational services to the U.S. Department of State, implementing partners, foreign governments, and U.S. embassies in 11 South and Central Asia countries. Ishrat also lived in Bangladesh, where she served at the U.S. Embassy, establishing an educational services program across the country. Before joining Nomi Network, Ishrat was a solutions and strategies professional for educational institutions across North America, supporting student mobility, collaborations, and partnerships between international entities. Through her work abroad, Ishrat developed personal and professional projects to be of service to those with limited resources and access. She collaborated with the U.S. Department of State to support youth from vulnerable South Asian communities with an Opportunity Grant to open pathways to access higher education. At Nomi Network, Ishrat is able to merge her passion for service with her experience in program management as the Senior Director of Global Programs, overseeing Nomi Network’s adult and youth programs. In Cambodia and India, Ishrat leads strategy and the teams implementing the adult Workforce Development Program and the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Program. She leads the Adult Women’s Empowerment Program and the Youth Workforce Development program in the United States. Ishrat is a founding dance director and current board member of an arts and entertainment company focused on community and social service in New York. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University. Ishrat’s free time is spent with her daughter and husband, enjoying living in New York City by exploring restaurants and new cuisines.
