Shannary Pays for Her Grandmother’s Emergency Medical Procedure

POIPET, CAMBODIA

Our Director of International Programs, Ishrat, just visited our Poipet site for the first time. One of her favorite stories was from a recent program alum, Shannary.

Shannary’s grandmother encouraged her to join the Nomi Network program to overcome her shyness and grow in confidence. Before joining our program, Shannary applied twice to work at a factory but could never pass the interview.

In the Workforce Development Program, Shannary blossomed and grew confident in her voice. She also felt supported and made new friends. Shannary completed Nomi Network’s technical skills training phase, achieving the highest marks as a sewing machine operator.

Nomi Network trainers helped her prepare a resume, develop her interviewing skills, and prepare for the job application process. Shannary is thrilled to have secured employment, and she is happy with her wages as they support her and her grandmother while also allowing for savings! Because of her savings, she was able to pay for an emergency medical procedure for her grandmother. Ishrat and the program staff in Cambodia are incredibly proud of Shannary, and they can’t wait to see where she goes in the future!
