Hi, I'm Jasmine Summers!
I am so excited to join Nomi Network as their International Fashion Fellow in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for a full year starting September 1st. I will be living in Cambodia’s capital city, serving and teaching sewing skills, design principles, and business basics to women at risk and survivors of the most profitable illicit industry in the world, human trafficking.
Cambodia is a major destination for sex tourism and child sex trafficking. Nomi Network’s mission is to create economic opportunities for these vulnerable women by equipping them with leadership, entrepreneurship, and production skills to become financially independent. My responsibilities at Nomi International Fashion Incubator will include teaching and curriculum building, mentoring students and visiting their work sites, recruiting and preparing guest lecturers and trainers, conducting research on local partnership opportunities, designing and advising on collections for the Nomi label, and planning and executing events at NIFI.
I will be serving as Nomi’s first ever fashion fellow, and I’m so grateful for this opportunity. Given my fashion background and heart for social justice, God has provided this position as a perfect opportunity for me to serve women in need—allowing me to use my unique skills and talents to empower women to rise above exploitation and out of poverty.
As this fellowship position is unpaid, I am required to fund raise at least $3,500 for Nomi before I leave on August 31st, and am advised to raise an additional $4,500 to cover my travel, vaccines, health insurance, visa costs, and personal expenses throughout the year. Please consider supporting and donating to Nomi Network, so that we can be a part of the amazing work they do in Cambodia by creating a holistic program approach to empowering and creating a financially independent future for survivors and women at risk of human trafficking. Whether you can support me in your prayers, with a one time gift, or with the much needed monthly support option for one year, I am so appreciative. With thankfulness and gratitude,
